Painting depicts the charm of a beautiful, early spring day in S/W France of an old, hidden chateau, in an almost haunted bad state of disrepair (now restored) with grass waste high, old overgrown trees, and little yellow flowers all around in the grass, ancient flower urns surround the chateau, one in foreground.
